20082010 Course
The 20082010 SOQUA post-graduate course on international social science research started at the beginning of November 2008 and runs until June 2010. It comprises 30 days of seminars distributed across five training modules.
Basic Modules 1 and 2 provide basic knowledge on methods and project work and are compulsory for all participants.
Training Modules 3, 4 and 5 deepen and broaden participants knowledge. Trainees may choose two seminars each from Modules 3 and 4 and three seminars from Module 5.
As a rule, all seminars are held in Vienna from 9 am to 6 pm. For details on dates and venues, see the respective seminar outline.
Four e-learning phases are scheduled between and run parallel to the face-to-face seminars. At the end of the course, participants write a final paper around 30 pages long.
The entire course is worth 21 ECTS points, requiring an input of effort and time as follows:
- Module 1: 2 seminars, 8 days, 4 ECTS points.
- Module 2: 4 seminars, 8 days, 4 ECTS points.
- Module 3: 2 of 4 elective seminars, 4 days, 2 ECTS points.
- Module 4: 2 of 4 elective seminars, 4 days, 2 ECTS points.
- Module 5: 3 of 6 elective seminars, 6 days, 3 ECTS points.
- E-learning phases: Around 75 hours input, 3 ECTS points.
- Final paper: Around 75 hours input, 3 ECTS points.
